Honey of the lavender variety was initially produced in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean and introduced to the world market as a product of superior quality. Lavender is also used as a herb on its own or as an ingredient in herb de Provence (France).
Native lavender can be found in the Canaries, North and West Africa, southern Europe and the Mediterranean, Arabia and India.
The biggest producers of lavender are Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, Australia and Russia.
